Aprehensive

Since beginning my endeavor into writing, I have become interested in words, their meaning and origin. I have always been very literal and find this word curious. Aprehensive adjective adjective: apprehensive 1. anxious or fearful that something bad or unpleasant will happen. “he felt apprehensive about going home” synonyms: anxious, worried, uneasy, nervous, concerned, agitated, tense, afraid, scared, frightened, fearful; More antonyms: confident 2. archaic literary relating to perceptionContinue reading “Aprehensive”

Everything is sacred

From my perspective, I see that it is true. From the contrast of a crow in the snow. to the ingenuity of humanity to create and express, lends to us all a richness that, if one is still and aware, provides meaning to life.   One of my favorite things to do to provide nutrition toContinue reading “Everything is sacred”

Winners and losers

In the interest of being able to persuade others to their side and hopefully arrive at a majority, in the perceived interest of their constituents. A division is created. What if someone has a great idea for most if not everybody, except that this someone has the opposition’s party affiliation? It then becomes evil andContinue reading “Winners and losers”

Demolition precedes Renovation

I am reflecting on this year. I started writing here about this time last year. My eyes and being have been subject to a wonderous eco-system of artists, entrepreneurs, visionaries and downright hilarious expressionists. All here to get out what can no longer be contained within. Mine is a journey of ongoing and perpetual self-discoveryContinue reading “Demolition precedes Renovation”

XIX

I am reflecting on receiving my 19-year medallion this past Saturday’s monthly sobriety recognition and speaker meeting. Ther was an Al-Anon speaker and an AA speaker. It very enlightening to hear the perspective of the emotions of the loved ones of addicts and alcoholics. The AA speaker was very good as well. I am struck recently that,Continue reading “XIX”

Faith in the Love that surrounds me

I can’t see it, touch it, smell it or hear it. I do know, however, that it is there. I can feel it if I am open and attentive to it. Love is infinite, unbounded and beyond description. I must, if I am to pass it on to those I encounter practice faith in it.Continue reading “Faith in the Love that surrounds me”

Suffering

I posted this as a reflection to my Instagram a year ago. I have migrated to this delightful world called WordPress. This is an excerpt from Thomas Merton’s autobiography Seven Storey Mountain. “Indeed, the truth that many people never understand, until it is too late, is that the more you try to avoid suffering, the more youContinue reading “Suffering”

Delusion

noun A delusion is a belief that is held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary. As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, confabulation, dogma, illusion, or other effects of perception. Wikipedia Wait, What? What of Faith then? It goes on, Whew! Many religious beliefs hold exactly the same features, yet are not universally considered delusional. Praise God,Continue reading “Delusion”

The things I see

The sun beating down brightly, as I am focused on the task at hand. Earbuds blasting from the playlist. The hum of the mower’s engine is evident through my body. And yet I remain aware of my surroundings. Yesterday I was working and an unusually large and overgrown lawn when I sensed something. I turned, and there sheContinue reading “The things I see”
