I love this quote, it is attributed to Malcom S. Forbes from a book of quotes from him The sayings of chairman Malcom
I thought of this today as A realtor and I were viewing a three unit residential house in a historic preservation district. Upon the conclusion of our inspection of the fist floor unit. (first viewing main floor unit only) We encountered a man that was looking for a place to rent for a relative. He said that they were in an apartment and looking to rent in a duplex or house.
Clearly here was a man who could not do anything for us, that I could think of. We told him that the property is for sale and that we didn’t know of any units for rent.
I would love to be in a position to help someone like this. There is a great need for rentals in the city for those getting assistance through section 8. I’d like to provide them with a place and support to the degree that they could find a way out of that predicament if they so desired. I’ll pray that I can help them and have faith that miracles happen.

Well you better pray for something outside of the historical preservation zone because construction in that zone costs six to 20 times more than usual because you have to go through special channels and regulations to do any work of significance. The funny thing, really, is that when the buildings become dilapidated, because nobody is foolish enough to pay for work to be done on the buildings, the landlord is going to be labeled a scourge. I wonder what Jesus would do?
Choose a duplex outside of the historical preservation district, methinks.

You treated him with kindness and respect. That my friend often goes a long way when encouraging someone to continue on.

Okay, I’m a little confused here (nothing new, right?) – is the person looking to rent a place for his relative the guy in the rabbit suit or Jon Bon Jovi?
Hope you’re having a great day.
Robert.

The message is for each to interpret for themselves, I am merely a tool for the source and the reasons to do what I did are not certain to me.

Ever wonder why the area of a Section Eight is very seldom or never in a “Park Place” area.
If interested, check out what I interpreted King Solomon believed by his idealist proverb 22:2.

This is a perfect example of the stratification of society. Always has been always will be and there is only the perception of injustice, when the reasons are not accurately identified. I was blessed by God’s will to be a white man in the US, I however live a simple life receiving only what I need and a little more. I am grateful and happy. All is well!
Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake

Awesome quote and great reflection on that notion of helping just to help. It’s a good question to ask myself. Am I helping people with the thought of what I can have in return? If so, it’s not really spiritual, it’s selfish.
